I am unable to read or send email tonight, I am not sure why.
Off we went at 7:45am to head to Dachau, where we arrived around 10:30am as the rain stopped and the sun came out. This was not a happy place, no surprise there. I won't go into the different exhibits but I do think everyone should visit one of these camps sometime in their lives.
We saw lovely views of the German countryside and later views of the Austrian Alps. After leaving Dachau we headed into Munich. Our goal was to just drive through the city and take a look and go to a beer house. This is exactly what we did. You can see we enjoyed a couple types of beer and some very festive music to go with it. I promised the group that I would post our guide's photo here on my blog. I thought she was standing on the table, but I see now that she was only standing on the bench. Anyway we had a blast and also learned new toasts!
From there we drove on toward Austria and the church in the Meadow. It is a lovely Rococo church, no not Baroque, but Rococo. Very ornate, built in the mid 1700's. It took the Zimmerman brothers eight years to build this church and is a big attraction these days. In addition we see May Poles in almost every city. These are different than we think of May Poles. These poles have different things on them indicating what services you can receive in the town, very cute.
Dinner was a wonderful buffet. Sorry this is not too interesting tonight but I am tired and the system is running so slow. Of note, a book I want to read it "Pillars of the Earth."
